That's why we've put this guide together. So keep our advice in mind and you can make your choices with confidence
•When researching, spend some time visiting local showrooms and speak with existing office owners. There is nothing better than chatting to someone who may have lived with their studio for a number of years.
• Ask about the quality of the components. For instance are the windows and doors better than most new build properties. What insulation & cladding do they use? Some of our rooms are insulated with Aerogel. This is known as “Super Insulation” and has the highest insulation value of any known material, which means negligible heating and cooling costs.
•What building method do they use? Is it structured insulated panels that are precision built in the factory and brought to site? This means minimal disruption and reduced time spent on site.
•Are the floor plans flexible, so you can build to suit your garden space, with multiple options on window and door configurations?
•Double glazing is pretty much standard, but do the windows and doors come with noise reduction glass and tinting for south facing gardens.
•If you have no garden access can the room components breakdown to a manageable size. Do the company have experience of this sort of build?
•Is there an in built furniture option for garden offices, giving you storage and work space.
Does the room comply with planning law, so you can take advantage of your permitted development rights? Do they have a free planning service if you need one?
•Does the manufacturer have a solid trading record? Consider using a company with a good portfolio of existing customers that also market their buildings to national companies and local councils.
•Is there a large gallery of actual garden room images, showing various gardenscapes and situations?
•Try and stretch your budgets to get the biggest office or room space you can afford, as it will almost certainly add value to your property…and make it easier to sell when you move house
•Are the offices portable so you have the option to take them with you when you move?
•Do you have the option on multiple electrical socket locations and ceiling down lights…and does your room come fully kitted with heating and broadband? Have you thought about air conditioning? Is it an available option?
•Electric hook up to your home fuse box is essential, so is this part of the company’s overall service. Is the standard security good enough for your insurer and do they have extra security options if you need it?
•Is there a project management service that takes care of everything giving you a true worry free, turnkey service?
•Can the company offer a landscaping and decking service to finish off the project?
